| General Info | Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of central, fully residential, co-educational schools in India. Established in 1986 under the National Policy on Education, they are managed by the autonomous Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti under the Ministry of Education. The core mission of JNVs is to discover talented children from rural areas and provide them with a modern, high-quality education equivalent to premium private residential schools, completely free of cost.Education, lodging, boarding, uniforms, and textbooks are fully funded by the government. Entry into JNVs is highly competitive, determined by the merit-based Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) for Class VI. To empower underprivileged communities, 75% of seats are reserved for rural children, with distinct quotas allocated for SC, ST, and female students.Affiliated with the CBSE board, JNVs strictly implement a three-language formula. They also promote national integration through a unique student migration program between different linguistic regions, ensuring holistic student development. |
