Originally founded in 1972 in Dibrugarh, the publication house expanded its operations to Guwahati in 1990 by establishing a key branch office and retail outlet on Jaswanta Road in Pan Bazaar.The store serves as a major intellectual hub for readers, students, and scholars across the region. Over the years, Banalata has published an expansive catalog of Assamese literature, ranging from traditional religious texts and academic references to contemporary fiction, non-fiction, travelogues, and children's books. Additionally, it furthers the region's progressive book movement by printing the half-yearly literary magazine, Banalata Sahitya. Today, it stands as an aristocratic institution in Guwahati, dedicated to preserving local culture, promoting regional authors, and acting as a comprehensive, reliable resource for unparallel Assamese publications. |
