The North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (NECHRI), located in Jorabat, Guwahati, Assam, is Northeast India's first private cancer hospital. Established in 2007–2008 by Dr. Munindra Narayan Baruah, the NABH-certified facility serves as a leading comprehensive referral center for cancer care across Assam and neighboring northeastern states. Equipped with 110 medical beds and a multidisciplinary medical team, NECHRI delivers advanced oncology services under one roof. Its specialized clinical departments include Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Head and Neck Oncology, and advanced Radiotherapy featuring cutting-edge technologies like IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, and Brachytherapy. The institute also houses advanced diagnostic infrastructure, such as PET-CT scanning and Digital Mammography. Beyond patient treatment, NECHRI is deeply committed to oncology research. It actively collaborates with premier institutions like IIT Guwahati, Tezpur University, and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to advance cancer biomarker and oral cancer research. Additionally, the hospital regularly organizes community awareness programs and free screening camps to improve early cancer detection in remote regional areas. |
