| General Info | The Hilton President Kansas City, historically known as the Hotel President, is a landmark building in the Power and Light District of Kansas City, Missouri. Opened in 1926, the property is highly renowned for its deep cultural and political heritage. Notably, it served as the headquarters for the 1928 Republican National Convention, which nominated Herbert Hoover for the presidency.The hotel’s famous Drum Room lounge historically attracted top-tier entertainers, including Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman. It is also famously tied to the unsolved 1935 mystery of room 1046.After closing its doors in 1980, the building underwent a massive $45.5 million restoration led by developer Ron Jury. It reopened in 2005 under the Hilton franchise and earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Following extensive guest room updates in 2017 and 2019, it successfully blends twentieth-century historic charm with modern boutique luxury. |
